Before getting bids on a new system or upgrade of an existing system a specification has to be written so that all vendors have a common standard to bid to. To write system and equipment specifications obviously requires expertise and experience about the systems involved.
I have put my long experience in boiler control systems and instrumentation to use by writing bid specifications for such systems on a number of occasions.
